Story
Hello!!
In December 2018 my beautiful mother Joy passed away after a 2.5 year battle with Cholangiocarcinoma - a rare and aggressive form of bile duct cancer. In 2020 our family experienced deja vu, with my grandmother Wilma (father's mother) also diagnosed with cholangiocarcinoma and passing away in June 2020.
With the support of my amazing coworkers at the Bendigo Osteopathic Clinic, I have decided to run a full marathon at the Great Ocean Road Running festival on the 23rd of August; for a cause that's close to my heart. Due to COVID lockdown and restrictions, if the GOR marathon does not go ahead, I will still run the full marathon distance on August 23rd. Our family are so grateful for the help and support that the GI Cancer Institute has provided our mother, grandmother and family over the past few years, and I would like to raise much needed funds and awareness for such a silent killer.
’I am very grateful for the support and would appreciate any contribution, big or small.
Donations made through this platform are secure and will be remitted directly through to my charity of choice.
Thanks so much for your support!
Michaela xx
